Foreign tourists who want to visit India must ensure they have a valid Indian visa affixed on their passports before they start their journey. However, if you are a national of Nepal or Bhutan, you do not require tourist visa to India; and if Maldives is your home country, you do not require a visa to enter India for a maximum period of 90 days. Unlike in certain countries, there is no provision of ‘Visa on Arrival’ in India, and tourists are not charged any fee for immigration facilities at the Indian airports.



You can obtain tourist visa to India from the Indian Consulate in your country. Various Indian missions abroad help tourists seek Indian visas to visit the land of the Taj Mahal. The validity of tourist visa to India can be six months, one year and ten years. Tourists intending to visit India are normally granted tourist Visa valid for the specified period from the issuance date (and not from the date of first entry into India).

Visa forms for Pakistani and Bangladeshi nationals are usually different. All tourists, including children need to apply for Indian visa in separate visa forms.
