Punjab is located in the northwest region of India. The area mostly consists of clays, silts and conglomerates. The Punjab plain is a part of the Indo Gangetic plains. The plains lie between 180 to 300 meters above sea level.

Major tourist attractions in Punjab: The Golden Temple: The Golden Temple is the main tourist attraction of the state. It is one of the most famous shrines of the Sikh religion.

The city of Chandigarh: The city was designed by the French architect Le Corbusier and is known for its modern infrastructure. The city is the capital of both Punjab and Haryana. Everything from the State High Court to the Chandigarh University to the Botanical garden is worth a visit. Chandigarh is the first planned city of India.

Bhakra Nangal Dam: It is the world�s highest straight gravity dam.

Climate and clothing:
Climate in Punjab consists of three seasons. The summers span from mid April to end of June. Early July to end of September is the rainy season. The winters span from early December to the end of February. Light cottons are ideal for the summers while heavy woolens are a must in the winters.
