   Kovalam is one of the excellent tourist destinations in India and is visited by several travelers. In addition to the usual surfing and sunbathing, there are many marine activities available at Kovalam. Following are the various tourist attractions that can be enjoyed in Kovalam:

Catamaran cruises

kadaloram-resort One of the favorite pastimes in Kovalam is the Catamaran cruises, on the country raft. A new tour operating company of Trivandrum has introduced a novel package for marine angling for deep-sea fishing. This new project is based near Vizhinjam fishing harbor, hardly 4 km away to the east of Kovalam beach. Surfboards and boogie boards can be taken on rent on the beach.

Ayurvedic Massage

The Ayurvedic massage and treatments at the various hotels and resorts are some of the greatest tourist attractions in Kovalam. Kovalam is dotted with numerous yoga centers which are ideal places to rejuvenate your body and soul. Performances of Kathakali (traditional Kerala art form) and ethnic martial art, Kalarippayattu at some of the theaters are other Kovalam tourist attractions.

Excrusions Around Kovalam

Much traveled by several devotees and tourists alike, the holy city of Anantha, Thiruvananthapuram City is sited only 16km north of Kovalam. Sri Padmnabhaswamy Temple exhibiting exclusive architectural excellence is the major landmark of the city. Puthan malika or the Horse Palace, situated very near to the Temple is a wooden palace and one of the major tourist attractions in Kovalam. The belongings of the Royal Family preserved within the premises and the very built of the edifice make the visitors mesmerized. If you want to get a flavor of the typical Keralite market you can visit the Chalai Market just meters away from the temple. The Napier Museum another tourist interest, situated just 3 km away is a building constructed in Indo-Saracenic Style. The hill resort, Ponmudi is sited at 60 km away from Thiruvananthapuram city. The resort is actually well known for its sprawling tea plantations and jungle streams.

Kanyakumari (Cape Comorin), the Southern most tip of Indian subcontinent is yet another chief site to be visited. Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu state is located 90 km east of Kovalam, where three oceans meet. Time spent on the Vivekananda Rock located exactly on the sea will prove emancipating. Padmnabhapuram palace, the second largest wooden palace in Asia situated on the way to Kanyakumari, is a major tourist attraction.
