The history of Bikaner dates back to 1488 AD, when Rao Bika Ji, a Rajput prince established his kingdom here. It was then a barren land called "Jungladesh" which was shaped into an impressive city by him and later the city was named Bikaner after him. It is a beautiful city with rippling sand, scorching sun and an arid rocky scrubland. The old part of the Bikaner city is surrounded by a stone wall that is 15 - 30 feet high and has five gates. The city is famous for woolen shawls, blankets, carpets, and sugar candy. The old part of the city which overlooked by a fort has numerous buildings of red and yellow sandstone. This fortified city still preserves the sensation of the medieval times and is protected by deserts. Our site Touristplacesinindia.com gives you complete details on all that you want to know about Bikaner.
