The fair is organized on the dry river bed of River Khari. Local people revere the fair as they believe that the otherwise salty water of the river becomes sweet during this time. The fair is usually held in the month of March, after the festival of colors, Holi. It goes on for 15 days and a safari ending at the fair is an ideal way to explore and experience this enchanting attraction of tourism in Rajasthan. There are many attraction located around the fair grounds, including a huge shivalingam made of granite and said to weigh about 10 tonnes.
