BEACHES- The Marina Beach in Chennai is 13 km log and is the second longest beach in the world. The sea there has a very wide sandy shore. A little further south of the Marina, is the Elliot's beach. It is located at Besant Nagar and used to be a bathing beach. Now it is less crowded than Marina and hence more serene and calming.
TEMPLES & CHURCHES- The Kapaleeshwara Temple located in Mylapore, Chennai is one of the main attractions of the city.
This stone temple built in the 7th century has Lord Shiva as the main deity. It was built by the Pallava kings of the land. The temple has two towering gopurams, the East gopuram is about 40 m high. There is also the sacred tank adjoining the temple. Other important temples are the Parthasarathy Kovil, the Varasdhi Vinayaka temple and the Ashtalakshmi kovil. The St. Thomas Church or Santhome Cathedral Basilica located on Santhome is also worth seeing.
MONUMENTS- Fort St. George was the 1st fortress the British built in India, in 1644. The State Legislature, the Secretariat and St. Mary's Church are located in this. The Vivekananda House & Museum is of historical importance.
PARKS- Those who like parks could visit Arinjar Anna Zoological Park and Guindy National Park & Snake Park.
AMUSEMENT PARKS-The amusement Parks in Chennai such as Kishkinta, Little Folks, Mayajal, MGM DizzyWorld and V.G.P. Golden Beach are famous.
